In February, Trump signed an executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which gave federal agencies the ability to penalize schools for allowing transgender athletes to compete — something the Trump administration says violates Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sexual discrimination.

AB Hernandez, a transgender student, is scheduled to compete in the long, triple and high jump events Friday at the California Interscholastic Federation State Track & Field Championships. Zach Boetto reports.

Roughly 10 protestors came to Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis in opposition to the Jurupa Valley athlete competing Friday afternoon.

The compromise is intended to dampen the firestorm building since last weekend when nearly three dozen protesters, including some hecklers, rallied during AB Hernandez’s track and field events.
