Times Square was evacuated and locked down after a bomb scare on Monday. Officers responded to reports of a suspicious package left outside a police facility at 10.32am on Monday between West 43rd Street and 7th Avenue.

A Bronx man is facing charges after Times Square was shut down Monday as police investigated a suspicious package. The New York City Police Department said 26-year-old Desean Maryat was charged with placing a false bomb/hazardous substance and making terroristic threats, among other counts.

A suspicious package that prompted a heavy police response outside the NYPD’s Times Square facility Tuesday morning has been deemed non-hazardous, according to officials.
