With the death of Thanos, Dong-hyuk now prepares the stage to bring about a grim atmosphere in season 3 of Squid Game. Belying popular expectations, Thanos won't make it to the top three contestants. The air of irreverence and comedy that he brought with him would now be missing on the show, hinting at more sinister developments.

We first see Thanos busting open his cross necklace filled with drugs during Red Light Green Light, as moments after he sees another player being murdered in front of him he slowly reaches for his drugs to calm his nerves. But how exactly did he even get the drugs and necklace into the games, to begin with?

Actor Choi Seung-hyun says he saw himself in his "Squid Game" character of Thanos — "a failed rapper" and "pathetic loser." And that is why he chose the role.

Hwang Dong Hyuk told Koreaboo that he didn’t think casting T.O.P would cause such controversy. T.O.P has previously been at the centre of negative media attention after he received a two-year suspended prison sentence for using drugs, specifically, marijuana around seven years ago.
