The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) have announced an indefinite strike in protest against the brutal attack on the medical oncologist by a patient's son.

A Chennai oncologist was brutally attacked by a patient’s son, allegedly over treatment concerns. The doctor, now in ICU, is stable as officials investigate the incident.

Dr Balaji is currently receiving treatment for his injuries, while Vignesh, the attacker, a resident of Chennai, has been arrested by police.

The oncologist was stabbed multiple times in Kalaignar Centenary Multy speciality government hospital, including in his chest.

Dr. Balaji Jagannath, 38, was on duty when Vignesh, 26, of Perungalathur, along with three friends, entered the hospital at around 10.30 am to visit his mother, who is receiving cancer treatment.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the government multi-specialty hospital, where Dr. Balaji sustained multiple stab wounds to his neck, head, and upper chest.
