Two “ No Kings ” rallies are planned for Saturday, one at Cal Anderson Park and the other at UW. They are meant to run opposite to President Donald Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C., according to Axios Seattle.

City and state officials say they are prepared for one of the largest protests in Seattle since President Donald Trump began his second term.

Most of the evening was peaceful, with a few protesters turning to vandalism in a tight area -- actions that brought police to move in closer and ultimately work to disperse the crowd.

As nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations approach Saturday, the Seattle Police Department issued a public message outlining how officers plan to support protest activity in the city.

As far as road closures go, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is shutting down all northbound lanes on Interstate-405 (I-405) between Sunset Boulevard in Renton to Coal Creek Parkway in Factoria. This is another chapter in the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

There were confrontations in several cities, and downtown Los Angeles was under curfew for a second night. Protests in other cities, including New York, ended peacefully.

Seattle Police made eight arrests in an anti-ICE march and protest on Wednesday night. The agency said that while most of the protest was peaceful, a dumpster was set on fire and a lit firework was thrown at officers at the end of the night.

On Friday, a who’s who of elected leaders spoke to the community during a press conference saying they stand with protesters' rights to freedom of speech, but do not want to see any violence.
