In their second game under interim manager Warren Schaeffer, the Rockies’ offense was once again a no-show in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday night at Globe Field. Schaeffer was named interim manager on Sunday when Bud Black was fired.
The Rocky Mountain horror show is the result of injuries, underperformance and, most of all, an unwillingness to adapt.
The Rockies’ third base and infield coach since 2023, Schaeffer took over as manager for Bud Black on Sunday when Black was fired after eight-plus seasons in Colorado. Before that, he’d spent his career in the Rockies’ farm system as a player, coach and manager.
The Rockies have traditionally been slow to change, even in bad times. But even this franchise, it seems, has a breaking point.
