Three New York Mets players—outfielders Juan Soto and Starling Marte and shortstop Francisco Lindor—expressed to Mike Puma of the New York Post that they would like to see their team pursue Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara if he became available.

Alacantra's two runs allowed came off a solo homer from Brandon Nimmo in the second inning and an RBI single to Francisco Lindor in the third. The 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner has given up four runs in 9.2 innings to start the season.

During his otherwise stellar tenure with the New York Mets, Lindor has struggled out of the gates. Seven of the eight worst months he’s had with New York have come in April and May — one reason he hasn’t made an All-Star team yet with the club — and last season he was hitting below .200 as late as May 21.
