With just weeks to go until New York City's mayoral primary, one of the leading candidates, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, finds himself under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Justice Department has opened an investigation into Andrew Cuomo, former New York governor and a top candidate for New York City mayor, following a referral from congressional Republicans who accused Cuomo of lying during an investigation of his administration’s Covid-19 response,

The inquiry follows a House GOP referral that alleges Cuomo lied when testifying before Congress about his handling of the COVID pandemic.
