Smashing Pumpkins' 'Night of Mellon Collie' anniversary celebration set for Lyric Opera's new season
Pumpkins' lead singer Billy Corgan will be joined by Lyric's orchestra, chorus and as a group of operatically trained soloists for a "musical-dramatic experience” based on music from the band's famed album “Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness.
"I am excited for both fans of my music and traditional opera fans to hear some truly inspired work," says Corgan.
The Lyric Opera of Chicago’s 2025-26 season will include five productions that first appeared elsewhere and one revival, all picked by general director John Mangum’s predecessor, Anthony Freud.
