Italy midfielder Jorginho has joined Brazilian side Flamengo ahead of this month's Club World Cup, following a mutual termination of his contract with Arsenal, both clubs said.

But Arsenal confirmed on Friday that they have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the deal a few weeks early, and Flamengo wrote that Jorginho’s first match will indeed be at the Club World Cup.

Italy midfielder Jorginho has joined Brazilian club Flamengo following his departure from Arsenal. The 33-year-old was going to leave the Gunners when his deal ended on 30 June but the London club said they had "reached a mutual agreement with Jorginho to end his contract with immediate effect".
