DUBAI — Israel unleashed airstrikes across Iran for a third day Sunday and threatened even greater force as some Iranian missiles evaded Israeli air defenses to strike buildings in the heart of the country. Planned talks on Iran’s nuclear program, which could provide an offramp, were canceled.
In the past few hours, Israel has continued carrying out strikes across Iran as part of ‘Operation Rising Lion’. In the north-western city of Tabriz, Israel has hit a military airbase, according to a news agency affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
The Iron Dome is designed to protect Israeli citizens by launching guided missiles to intercept incoming rockets and other short-range threats in mid-air.
Ghamari, the Houthi chief of staff, in an airstrike on Saturday, an Israeli military official said. He is one of the most powerful Houthi figures who helped orchestrate the rebel takeover of Sana'a following the Arab Spring.
