In an update to investors, Embraer has disclosed that the Brazilian plane maker’s board approved another four-year development pause of the E175-E2, the only E2 model the company has not pushed into the market due to issues surrounding scope clauses in the United States.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Brazilian plane maker Embraer said on Tuesday its board approved an additional four-year pause in the development program of E175-E2 jet, according to a securities filing.

While the E175-E2 remains stalled, the company's E175 backlog sits at 163, Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery shows. The older model's popularity, combined with increasing interest in the current-generation models, has Embraer's backlog sold out through 2026.

Brazilian airframer Embraer has again paused its E175-E2 programme after acknowledging on several occasions that development of the next-generation regional jet has been effectively shelved.

Embraer S.A. ERJ recently clinched a contract from ANA Holdings Inc. for delivering 15 of its E190-E2 small narrowbody aircraft, with options for an additional five aircraft. These jet deliveries are expected to start in 2028.
