A patrol car with the California Highway Patrol was involved in a crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 in the Loomis area of Placer County, officials said.

PLACER COUNTY – A California Highway Patrol vehicle was involved in a crash along Interstate 80 early Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened just after noon near the Horseshoe Bar Road offramp on the eastbound side. Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but CHP confirmed that a patrol vehicle from its Auburn-area division was involved.

A California Highway Patrol officer with the agency’s Auburn office and another person suffered serious injuries Tuesday when an SUV crashed into a patrol vehicle on Interstate 80 in Placer County, authorities said.
