The Colorado Rockies, who fired manager Bud Black and bench coach Mike Redmond after an "unacceptable" 7-33 start, will turn to third base coach Warren Schaeffer as their interim manager, owner Dick Monfort announced.

Black was in his ninth season as Rockies manager after being hired in 2017. After making back-to-back playoff appearances in his first two years, Colorado has endured six straight losing seasons under his direction. He ends his tenure with a 544-690 record.
