Liverpool are to create a permanent tribute to remember former player Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva who died in a car crash earlier this month, the Premier League champions announced on Saturday.

Liverpool are set to hold talks with the FA and Crystal Palace over a tribute to forward Diogo Jota, who sadly passed away on Thursday morning.

The chances of Liverpool signing Hugo Ekitike are growing, with Fabrizio Romano having confirmed he is a top target and Eintracht Frankfurt already bringing in a replacement striker. The Liverpool squad have returned for pre-season training and have been paying tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva after the brothers were tragically killed in a car accident on July 3.

Now, Jean-Philippe Mateta has emerged as a fresh and compelling name. According to Foot Mercato, “Liverpool are keen on Jean-Philippe Mateta (28 years old). There has been contact from the English champions regarding him, we were informed. Mateta and his agent also met with Liverpool representatives in Paris.”
