After a two-week search following the dismissal of former head coach Kyle Neptune, Villanova has formally announced that former University of Maryland Head Coach Kevin Willard will join the Men’s Basketball program as the tenth head coach in team history.

One of the deciders in the process was none other than Jay Wright, Willard’s former adversary over a decade coaching at Seton Hall. After formal conversations with university President Rev. Peter Donohue and athletic director Eric Roedl, Willard fired up the old Big East phone tree Saturday night.

Villanova is hiring Kevin Willard as its next men’s basketball coach, according to multiple reports, ending a coaching search that began when Villanova fired Kyle Neptune on March 15. Inside Maryland Sports was first to report Willard had accepted the job.
