Hey. I am not sure. I would say that early morning or late afternoon would be the best times to see them and not sure if its hibernate time for them then. The visitor center was very resourceful with questions. Here is the number 252-473-1131. Google answer for bears hibernate in North Carolina. Answer: Females typically hibernate longer than males. North Carolina's bears just do it for shorter time periods than their northern cousins. Bears studied in eastern North Carolina by radio-telemetry entered dens as early as November and as late as January. Hope this helps some. Thanks for the question. Good luck if you go. Chris
where is this actually located? i saw it on google maps south of buffalo city, but when i save it on TA it shows it on the outer banks/roanoke island
A:
The National Wildlife Refuges Visitors Center is on Roanoke Island, but the Alligator Refuge itself and its wildlife drive and trails are located west over the 64 bridge on the mainland.
